A Hat is a Terrible Thing to Waste
A beautiful felt hat is a terrible thing to waste. Luckily, Hatman Jack’s has been renovating and refurbishing hats for over 40 years.
Most felt hats can be cleaned, repaired, refurbished, or renovated. We provide varying degrees of service, from slight tweaks to full overhauls.
In order to make an assessment about what success we might have in renovating your hat, we will need a few pictures of the inside and the outside of the hat. Once you’ve submitted the form below, we will contact you to discuss your needs and provide a cost estimate. Following that consultation, you will need to print out our renovations form and send the hat to our shop in Wichita, Kansas.

Cleaning and Blocking $15.00-$65.00*
Hats (or cloth caps) that are soiled can be dry-cleaned, stiffened, and reshaped to help bring new life to the felt.

Shaping $10.00-$35.00*
Steaming and working felt to change the look of the hat.

Blocking $22.00*
Rounding out the crown of the hat to help reinforce structural integrity as well as helping to remove wrinkles or creases and shaping the hat back to its original crown profile.

Flanging $22.00*
Flattening or otherwise re-ironing the brim to “reset” the shape back to its original form.

Stretching $10.00*
Helping to make hats more comfortable using a combination of tools and steam.

New Sweatbands $30.00-$40.00*
Using traditional tools and leather sweatbands, we can replace sweatbands that are uncomfortable, disintegrating, shrunken, or otherwise undesirable.

New Ribbons or Other Decorative Trims $12.00-$40.00+
From replacing traditional grosgrain ribbon trims to elaborate and handmade custom work, your hat can be made to look just the way you want.

New Liner $10.00*
We can replace your old, stained, or torn hat liner with a new emerald green satin liner printed in gold with our logo.

Brim Bindings $45.00*
Grosgrain ribbon around the edge of the brim to create a finished look.

Brim Cutting $12.00*
If your hat’s brim is a little too wide for your taste, we can cut off as little as an eighth of an inch or as much as you would like
